The affix अच् comes after the word वर्चस् when preceded in a compound by the words ब्रह्म or हस्ति.

Commentary
The affix अच् comes after the word वर्चस् when preceded in a compound by the words ब्रह्म or हस्ति।
Thus ब्रह्मवर्च्चसम्, हस्तिवर्च्चसम् ॥ Varchas means 'light', 'strength'.
Vart:- So also when Varchas is preceded by the words pallya and rajan : as, पल्ल्यवर्च्चसम्, राजवर्च्चसम् ॥
