Operational rule vidhi
To indicate the meaning of 'his/her offspring', the word मण्डूक gets the अण् as well as ढक् प्रत्यय optionally.

Commentary
The affix ढक् comes optionally in the sense of a descendant after the word मण्डूक as well as the affix अण्।
Thus we get three forms, मण्डुक + ढक् = मांडूकेयः; मंडूक + अण् = मांण्डूकः; मण्डूक + इञ् = माण्डुकिः ॥
