Why it is a table
- 1.4.99 लः परस्मैपदम् The substitutes of a lakāra are parasmaipada: the first nine.
- 1.4.100 तङानावात्मनेपदम् Except that तङ् (त … महिङ्, the last nine) and the āna affixes are ātmanepada.
- 1.4.101 तिङस्त्रीणि त्रीणि प्रथममध्यमोत्तमाः Each nine falls into three triads: prathama, madhyama and uttama puruṣa.
- 1.4.102 तान्येकवचनद्विवचनबहुवचनान्येकशः Within each triad: singular, dual, plural, one by one.
- 1.3.10 यथासंख्यमनुदेशः समानाम् Two lists of equal length pair up in order (यथासङ्ख्यम्), so the items fill the grid in the order listed.
Pink letters are it-markers (anubandhas), tags dropped by 1.3.9. Hover or tap one for the rule that marks it, or try the it-letter finder.

These are the well-known Conjugational-affixes, called also Personal endings, and are ordained generally after all the ten tenses. But as a matter of fact, they undergo various additions and alterations in the different tenses. Some of these changes have already been mentioned before; see sutra 1.4.8, 3.1.33, &c. Others will be mentioned hereafter. It is only in the present tense or लट् that the affixes as above given, may be applied to the root, in some cases, without any alteration.
The प in तिप्, सिप् and मिप् is for the sake of accent 3.1.4; the ट् in इट् for distinguishing it in the sutra इटोऽत् 3.4.106; and the ङ in महिङ् for forming the Pratyahara तिङ् which is the general name of the above 18 conjugational or personal affixes.
