The affix णमुल् comes after the बन्ध् 'to bind' when a word so formed denotes an appellative.

The affix णमुल् comes after the बन्ध् 'to bind' when a word so formed denotes an appellative.
Thus क्रौञ्चबन्धं बध्नाति 'he binds in the manner called krauncha-bandhan or 'heron-knot'. मयूरिकाबन्धं बध्नाति or बद्धः 'he binds or is bound in a 'peacock-knot'. अट्टालिकाबन्धं बद्धः 'bound in a knot called attalika-bandhan'.
All the above, krauncha-bandhan &c. are names of various sorts of 'bonds or knots'. The rule 3.4.46 also applies here.
