अय् is optionally substituted for the इ of णि before the Absolutive affix ल्यप् , after the verb आप्.

अय् is optionally substituted for the इ of णि before the Absolutive affix ल्यप् , after the verb आप्।
Thus प्रापय्य or प्राप्य गतः ॥ This however does not apply to the आप् substitute for इङ्, as अप्याप्य गतः 6.1.48, 7.3.36. The maxim of Pratipadokta applies here.
