The affix वलच् comes in the sense of मतुप् after 1. दन्त and 2. शिखा when a Name is formed.

Commentary

The affix वलच् comes in the sense of मतुप् after 1. दन्त and 2. शिखा when a Name is formed.
Thus दन्तावलः सैन्यः, दन्तावलो गजः, शिखावलं नगरम्, शिखावलो स्थूणा ॥ The final vowel of दन्त is lengthened before वल by 6.3.118.
