Commentary
The affix लोट् (Imperative) comes after a verb when the word स्म is in composition (when the sense is that of 'direction', permission etc.) and referring to time by a मुहूर्त (48 minutes or an Indian hour).
This supersedes the Potential (लिङ्) and Potential Passive Participles (कृत्या). Thus ऊर्ध्वम् मुहूर्ताद् भवान् कटं करोतु स्म, ग्रामं गच्छतु स्म, माणवकमध्यापयतु स्म 'you (may, must, or it is proper time to) make the mat, or go to the village, or teach Manavaka just now'.
