Commentary

The affix घुरच् comes in the sense of 'agent having such a habit etc.' after the verbs 1. भञ्ज् 'to break' 2. भास् 'to shine' 3. भिद् 'to be fat'.
As भञ्ज् + घुरच् = भङ्ग् + उर 7.3.52 = भङ्गुरः 'brittle'; the palatal being changed into guttural, because of the indicatory घ. So also मेदुरः पशुः 'a fat beast'; भासुरं ज्योतिः 'splendid light'.

After the verb भञ्ज् this affix gives a reflexive signification-- that which naturally breaks of itself.
