Operational rule vidhi

There is vocalisation of the half-vowel of the reduplicate of व्यथ् in the लिट् (Perfect Tense).

Target Ṣaṣṭhī (6th case): names what gets replaced, "in place of X" (1.1.49 षष्ठी स्थानेयोगा).
Right context Saptamī (7th case): "when X follows", the operation applies to what precedes (1.1.66 तस्मिन्निति निर्दिष्टे पूर्वस्य). Also a condition or domain ("in the sense of").

Commentary

There is vocalisation of the half-vowel of the reduplicate of व्यथ् in the लिट् (Perfect Tense).
As विव्यथे, विव्यथाते, विव्यथिरे ॥ This ordains the vocalisation of य, which otherwise would have been elided as being a non-initial consonant 7.4.60. The vocalisation of व् is prevented by 6.1.37. Why do we say in the Perfect? Observe वाव्यथ्यते ॥
