Operational rule vidhi
The augment प् is added after the vowel of a root पत् 'to fall' in the Aorist अङ्.

The augment प् is added after the vowel of a root पत् 'to fall' in the Aorist अङ्।
As अपप्तत्, अपप्तताम्, अपप्तन् ॥ The पत् takes the अङ् Aorist as it has an indicatory ऋ in the Dhatupatha 3.1.55.
