Commentary

The पित् सार्वधातुक affix beginning with a consonant, optionally get the augment इट् in the Intensive.
As लालपीति in शाकुनिको लालपीति, so also दुन्दुभिर्वावदीति, त्रिधावद्धो वृषभो रोरवीति महादेवो मर्त्यो आविवेश ॥ (Rig. IV. 58.3). Also not, as वर्वर्त्ति चक्रम् and वर्वर्मि ॥ These are all examples of the Intensive with the elision of यङ् ॥ When the stem retains यङ्, there can be no पित् Sarvadhatuka affix beginning with a consonant after it, because then शप् will intervene between the affix and the stem. Hence no examples of the same can be given.
