Operational rule vidhi
The उपधा नकार of the जकारान्त verb roots and the verb root 'नश्' is optionally removed when followed by the क्त्वा प्रत्यय.

Replace jānta-naśām with vibhāṣā, optionally. Inherited words (anuvṛtti) may add further conditions.
Commentary
The nasal may be optionally elided before क्त्वा in a root ending in ज् and in नश्।
Thus रङ्क्त्वा or रक्त्वा, भङ्क्त्वा or भक्त्वा, नष्ट्वा or नंष्ट्वा See 7.1.60 for the augment न् in नश् ॥ When इट् comes, we have नशित्वा ॥
