Commentary
The final इन् of a भ अङ्ग (stem) remains unaltered before the non-Patronymic अण् affix.
Thus सांकुटिनम्, सांराविणम्, सांमार्जिनम् 3.3.44 and 5.4.15. These are formed by the Krit-affix इनुण् 3.3.44, and then अण् is added in स्वार्थ by 5.4.15. So also स्राग्विणम् from स्रग्विन् ॥ Why 'when अण् follows'? Observe दण्डिनां समहः = दाण्डम् ॥ It is formed by अञ् 4.2.44. Why do we say 'non-Patronymic'? Observe मेधाविनोऽपत्यं = मैधावः ॥
